In April 1995, the Board of Governors of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association formally selected Neil Ferstand to be the Executive Director of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association (CTLA).
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Ferstand served as Vice President of Los Angeles based Trade Association Consultants, Inc., one of California’s early multiple non-profit Association management and lobbying firms specializing in the management and legislative affairs of medium to large professional and trade organizations. Later, as President of Management Services for Associations, Inc. (MSA), his firm provided similar Association management services but now based in Sacramento, California for his clients heavily involved in state legislative affairs.
Before opening MSA in 1983, Mr. Ferstand served as Chief Executive Officer of the California Department of Consumer Affairs, Certified Shorthand Reporters Board, a state agency responsible for testing and licensing of court reporters and serving as a liaison and mediator of practice disputes between California trial lawyers and the then 10,000 licensed court reporters.
In his capacity as CTLA Executive Director and along with his dedicated staff, Mr. Ferstand actively administers all administrative, financial, membership, continuing legal education, publications and legislative affairs for CTLA. This includes his extensive research and collection of data to advance the cause of civil justice in the state of Connecticut.
